Sakawrdai, Sinlung Hills, April 24, 2025, Virthli (ONP): The 14th Assembly and Executive Council Election of the Hmar Inpui (Hmar Supreme House), alongside the 10th Executive Council meeting, was successfully held at the Community Hall in Sakawrdai, Sinlung Hills, Mizoram on April 23–24, 2025.
The Assembly's election session, held from 10:00 AM to 5:40 PM on April 24, saw 164 delegates casting their votes. Distinguished attendees included Lalmuanpuia Punte (MLA and Adviser to the Mizoram Chief Minister), Benjamin Lalrawnliana (Deputy Chairman, SHC), and other members of the Sinlung Hills Council, such as Melody Lalchhuangzeli, Zokhumthang, Lalrawngbawl Pulamte, and Vanlalsiamsanga. Also present were key figures from Manipur including Dr. Chaltonlien Amo (former MLA/Minister), Lalhrillien Zote (President, HNU and former ADCC EM), and senior advisers of Hmar Inpui-GHQ.
The sessions were presided over by Rev. Rohminglien Pakhuongte, Speaker of Hmar Inpui. Reports were presented by affiliated bodies, and leaders from across regions delivered messages of solidarity, urging coordinated resistance against marginalization and reaffirming inter-ethnic harmony.
A moment of silence was observed in memory of the victims of recent violence in Manipur. Rev. Vanlalhlun Traite (Finance Secretary, HCLF and local pastor, AGEI) offered prayers for the afflicted and displaced.
Hmar Inpui President Rev. Ros Infimate in his presidential address, spoke extensively on the Manipur crisis, urging the Hmar people to remain united. He praised the efforts of HWA, HYA, and HSA, and expressed gratitude to the Assembly delegates for their active involvement.
He called on the community to demonstrate collective strength and resilience and addressed critical demographic concerns by urging families to have more children to ensure the continued survival of the Hmar identity. He also highlighted the alarming rise in unmarried women (spinsters) and encouraged the HWA to launch proactive awareness and engagement campaigns to address the issue.
Rev. Infimate strongly advocated for the responsible use of social media, encouraging members to promote unity and discourage harmful discourse online. He further emphasized the ongoing development of Sinlung Hills and the role of digital platforms in shaping public awareness.
Mentioning the recent Ministry of Home Affairs, Kuki-Zo Council talks in Delhi, he called for a united, pan-community movement, rather than fragmented efforts.
During the session, a special tribute was paid to Jerry Lalhratthang, who secured All India Rank 999 in the UPSC exam. His father, Upa Buonglienkung Buongpui, a leader of the Hmar Inpui Meghalaya Region, was also recognized. The HWA-GHQ honored Jerry with a traditional Hmar Pasalthapuon.
The business session included the review of the 2024 resolutions from the 9th Executive Council and 13th Assembly, and presentation of reports by the General and Joint Secretaries. Key updates and plans from the 10th Executive Council were also discussed, with a major focus on the deteriorating situation in Manipur.
Elections were conducted by Rev. Lalneikhup Hmar and Rev. Lungawiruol Khawbung of the HCLF using secret ballot. Results are as follows:

Finance Secretary: Rev. Tlanghmingthang (Rengkai, Manipur) – Uncontested
Treasurer: Lalhmingmak Joute (Rengkai, Manipur) – Uncontested
In accordance with the Hmar Inpui Constitution, the elected office bearers will soon appoint Executive Committee members, department secretaries, and regional sub-committees. The oath of office was administered by Rev. Lalneikhup Hmar, and the full Assembly unanimously affirmed the elected team.
Vice President T. Romeo Hmar delivered a vote of thanks, expressing deep appreciation to all participants. Special recognition was extended to the Hmar Inpui Mizoram Region, the host community of Sakawrdai, and the HSA Sakawrdai Unit for their hospitality and support.
The Assembly concluded with a closing prayer offered by Rev. Lalthakung (Regional Superintendent, WMCEI, and Treasurer, HCLF).
