NCERT National Talent Search Examination 2012-13

National Talent Search Scheme is a flagship activity of the NCERT started in the year 1963. The purpose of the scheme was to identify talented students and nurture their talent. Talent refers to the potentiality that manifests itself in a high level of performance in one or more specialized areas.

This year NCERT will conduct the National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class X

Scholarships: On the basis of the National Talent Search Examination, 1000 scholarships will be awarded

1. Scholarships: On the basis of the examination conducts, 1000 scholarships will be awarded for each group of students appearing for class-X examination. The amount of scholarship will be Rs 500/- per month as per NTS rules
2. Reservation: 15% scholarships will be reserved for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% scholarships for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged group of students

3. Selection: There will be two stage selection process for award of scholarship

Stage- I, selection will be done by States/UTs through a written examination

Students, who qualify Stage-I, will be eligible to appear for Stage-II examination, conducted by NCERT

4. Eligibility: All students of Class X studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the Stage-I examination, conducted by the States/UTs, in which the schools are located

There will be no domicile restriction

Stage-I (State)

Examination in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Andaman and Nicobar Islands: 17th November, 2012

State Quotas: Each State/Union Territory has been allotted a quota to recommend a specific number of candidates for the Stage-II examination, the details of which will be made available on NCERT website

However, there will be no State/Union Territory quota for the final award of scholarship after the Stage-II examination

However, NCERT does not charge any fee for Stage-II examination

RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme-2012

To encourage learning about the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) among the youth of the country, the RBI conducts a major awareness and sensitization exercise on the role of the Reserve Bank and the banking system across the country. This exercise, ‘RBI Young Scholars Award Scheme’ exposes youngsters to an actual banking and financial environment and inculcates a sense of pride in the selected ones of having had the opportunity to associate themselves with a prestigious organisation, the central bank of the country.

1. Eligibility

(A) Educational Qualification: All students across India who have completed 10 + 2 years of formal education or its equivalent fro'm recognized institutions/boards in 2011 or before and are currently pursuing their undergraduate studies. However, those having enrolled for or having acquired degree(s) higher than graduation will not be eligible. Candidates who have qualified and worked at RBI as a Young Scholar in any of the previous years are not eligible to apply again.

(B) Age: Candidates should be of age 18 years or more but less than 23 years as on September 1, 2011.

2. Number of Seats

A maximum of 150 young scholars would be awarded scholarship by the RBI every year under the scheme. Out of these, a maximum of 50 candidates may be selected through a test conducted in English medium. The rest, up to a maximum number of 100, shall be selected on regional basis through a test conducted in vernacular medium.

3. Entrance Examination

The entrance exam will be conducted in English, Hindi and 11 other regional languages. The regional languages will be Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The exam will be held at around 100 different locations spread all across the country. The indicative List of Centres is given in this notification.

4. Examination Pattern

The examination will be of objective type with multiple choices for answers. The paper will be of approximately 90 minutes duration and will have questions related to role and functioning of the RBI, the trend of banking industry in India and general economic and financial environment of the country.

5. How to prepare for the Exam

6. Placements and Project Assignment

The selected All India candidates and the Regional Candidates will be placed at the nearest Regional Office designated for the purpose, depending on the size of the office. The selected candidates will be required to work within the RBI on projects/assignments allocated to them by the respective Regional Director of RBI. They will be expected to complete the same in a reasonable time, subject to a minimum of 2 months and a maximum of 3 calendar months.

7. Stipend

During their stint with the RBI, they will be paid a consolidated monthly stipend of Rs.7500/- per head. For broken periods, the amount will be calculated on a pro rata basis.

8. Accommodation

During their stay with the RBI, the selected scholars who do not have a place to reside at the centre of placement will be assisted with accommodation for the duration of their project.

9. How to Apply

Guidelines for Online Application

  • Candidates should have a valid email ID.

  • Go to the website and follow the instructions.

  • After applying online, the registered candidates should obtain a system generated printout of the registered information and preserve the same to enable generation of call letters online.


10. Last Date for Receipt of Application

13. Call Letter for the Written Test

Call letters for the written test to be held on January 29, 2012 can be downloaded fro'm the RBI website on or after January 12, 2012. Call letters will not be dispatched by post or courier. To download the call letter candidates should know their application registration number which will also be sent by e-mail to the candidates who provide a valid email-id. Call letters can be downloaded fro'm RBI’s website by entering the registration number & password or date of birth.. After downloading of the call letter a recent photograph should be pasted on the call letter and signed across by the candidate before appearing for the examination. Three copies of the same photograph affixed on the call letter should be retained for use at the time of written examination. Candidates are advised not to change their appearance till the selection process is complete. Failure to produce the same photograph at the time of written test may lead to disqualification.



GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS


a) Before applying for the scheme, the candidate should ensure that he / she fulfills the eligibility and other norms mentioned in the advertisement. Decision of the RBI in all matters regarding eligibility of the candidate, the stages at which such scrutiny of eligibility is to be undertaken, the documents to be produced for the purpose of the conduct of examination, selection and any other matter relating to scheme will be final and binding on the candidate. The RBI in this regard shall entertain no correspondence or personal enquiries. In case it is detected at any stage of selection that a candidate does not fulfill the eligibility norms, and / or that he / she has furnished any incorrect / false information or has suppressed any material fact(s), his / her candidature will stand cancelled. If any of these shortcomings is / are detected even after selection, his / her scholarship / stipend are liable to be terminated.

b) Selected candidates should submit the following at the time of reporting:

(i) Attested photocopies of all the certificates in support of educational qualification, date of birth and caste / disability (if any).

(ii) Candidates, belonging to SC/ST/OBC category should submit an attested copy of their caste certificate issued by the competent authority and also produce original caste certificate / relevant certificates.

c) Candidates should be willing to stay anywhere in India for project work / assignment.

d) Any request for change of address will not be entertained.

e) Any dispute relating to this Scheme shall be subject to the sole jurisdiction of the Courts situated at Mumbai only.

f) In case any dispute arises on account of interpretation in version other than English, English version will prevail.

g) No candidate is permitted to use calculator, telephones of any kind, pagers or any other such instruments.

h) The candidates, including SC/ST candidates will appear for the written examination at the allotted centres at their own expense.

l) The RBI/IBPS may at its discretion hold re-examination wherever necessary in respect of a centre / venue / specific candidate(s).

j) Final selection of the candidates is subject to his / her being medically fit as per the requirement of the RBI.

k) Action against candidates found guilty of misconduct :

Candidates are advised in their own interest that they should not furnish any particulars that are false, tampered, fabricated or should not suppress any material information while registering the information.

At the time of Written Examination if a candidate is (or has been) found guilty of :

i) using unfair means during the examination or

ii)impersonating or procuring impersonation by any person or

iii) misbehaving in the examination hall or taking away the question booklet/ answer sheet fro'm the examination hall or

iv) resorting to any irregular or improper means in connection with his / her candidature by selection or

v) obtaining support for his / her candidature by any means, such a candidate may, in addition to rendering himself / herself liable to criminal prosecution, be liable :

a) to be disqualified fro'm the examination for which he/she is a candidate
b) to be debarred, either permanently or for a specified period, fro'm any examination or recruitment conducted by RBI/IBPS.


vi) The RBI would be analyzing the responses of a candidate with other appeared candidates to detect patterns of similarity. If as per the laid down procedure it is suspected that the responses have been shared and the scores obtained are not genuine / valid, the RBI / IBPS reserves the right to cancel his / her candidature.

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for an Israeli Government Scholarship tenable from October 2012 to study at an Israeli university or any institution of higher education in Israel.

The scholarships are for research/specialisation for eight months, and would be available for:

Eligibility:

For the research/specialisation studies, a master’s degree with 60% marks or more as on November 30, 2011 for the subject of agriculture, chemistry, biology, biotechnology, environment studies; and master’s degree with 55% marks or more for the remaining subjects. Proof of English or Hebrew language knowledge is must.

4. Value of Scholarship:
Terms and conditions of the scholarship will change every year according to the yearly budget.

The scholarship could be partial, or in rare cases full. Partial scholarship will include health insurance and tuition fees OR

Monthly allowance for one academic year (8 months only). Full scholarship will include tuition fees, a monthly allowance and health insurance.

Accommodation, transportation and travel arrangements to and from Israel are the applicant's responsibility.

Scholarships will be granted only in universities and programs approved by the Israel Government and this Ministry.

5. Submission of application:

Application should include following:

i) Dully filled application form as given in the format.

ii) Detailed letter describing the field the applicant intends to study in Israel, specifying the University he/she wishes to attend.

iii) Curriculum Vitae

iv) Copies of letters exchanged with Israeli universities or the Israeli supervisor (it should be attached or produced during interview)

v) At least two (2) letters of recommendation from lecturers/professors who taught the candidates( It should be attached or produced during interview).

vi) Attested Photocopies of all degree/certificates including transcript of the student’s record.

Application on plain paper (as per format given below) alongwith the required photocopies of documents with a recent passport size photograph pasted on the application should reach the ‘Section Officer (ES.3 Section), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, External Scholarship Division, 2nd Floor, Wing 6,West Block-1, R.K. NOTES:
1. Candidates who are awaiting the results need not apply if the results have not been declared by 30-11-2011.

2. Equivalent foreign degree will be considered.

3. Candidates who have already been abroad for study/research/training for more than six months at a time either on a scholarship or on their own, are eligible to apply only if they have been in India for at least two years after their return from abroad as on 30-11-2011. Applications of candidates, who are abroad will not be considered.

4. Candidates should have adequate knowledge of geographical situation, culture and heritage of Israel and India.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), Shiksha Kendra, 2, Community Centre, Preet Vihar, Delhi-110092, has invited applications for the Central Sector Scheme of Scholarship for College and University students’ for 2011

Applicant should be an Indian National and should have passed the Senior School Certificate Examination 2011 conducted by CBSE and should have secured the minimum prescribed total aggregate marks, in the first five subjects, depending on the stream opted by the applicant for the Senior School Certificate Examination 2011.

The prescribed minimum total aggregate marks in first five subjects for all categories (SC/ST/OBC/UR) to be eligible to apply for the Scholarship is 408 out of 500 for Science, 380 out of 500 for Commerce and 334 out of 500 for others.

The applicant should be pursuing higher studies and should have taken admission in an Under Graduate regular course (not correspondence or distance mode) in a recognized Educational Institution in India. The applicant should not be availing any other scholarship and the total annual Income of parents of the applicant fro'm all sources should not exceed Rs 4.5 lakh per annum. The applicant should not belong to creamy layer as defined by DoP&T fro'm time to time (Govt. of India, Dept. of Per. & Trg., OM No. 36033/S/2004-Estt. (Res.), dated 14-10-2004). This condition is applicable to all categories of applicants both ‘General’ and ‘Reserved’.

Those selected for the Scholarship and undergoing Graduation will get am amount of Rs.1000/- per month, to be disbursed as lump sum amount of Rs.10,000/- at end of academic year, for three years. For Professional course, the candidates will get Rs.2000/- per month during the 4th and 5th year of Professional Courses. For Post Graduation (Other than that of the Professional courses), the amount will be Rs 2000/- per month for two years after Graduation which is to be disbursed as a lump sum amount of Rs.20,000/- at end of academic year.

Number of scholarships will be distributed amongst pass out of the Science, Commerce and Humanities in ratio of 3:2:1. Reservation to SC, ST, OBC and PH will be as per guidelines of the Govt of India.

The Scholarship amount will be sent only to the Bank Account of the selected candidate, by ECS (Electronic Clearing System) mode. So, applicants have to open a Bank Account in his/her name in a branch of any Scheduled Nationalized/Commercial Bank which has ECS facility. Applicants should give their Bank Account number, Bank Name and detailed address of the Bank and the correct RTGS/NEFT branch code of the Bank. No request for sending the amount of scholarship by Draft or in the account of parents or joint account will be entertained.

Renewal of Scholarship: For renewal of Scholarship, applicant has to apply on separate renewal form. Applicant should have passed in all the subjects in semester/annual examinations with not less than 60 % marks in the aggregate of 2 semester or annual examinations and should have maintained 75 % attendance, good discipline and should not have involved in ragging activities etc.

Scholarship once cancelled will not be revived under any circumstances.
Applications: Eligible students should first obtain the Bank Details of their Account, RTGS/NEFT branch code of the bank fro'm the Bank Manager and then fill the application form of Scholarship online athttp://www.cbserod.net.in/scholarship/menu.aspx

On submitting the details, application form and joining report will be generated online and the same has to be printed on A4 size paper. The applicant should then get the Joining report verified fro'm the Head of the Institution fro'm where course is being pursued. Income affidavit has to be obtained on a non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.10/- duly sworn in before Notary Public/First class Executive Magistrate/Revenue Officer.

The following documents are to be attached to the duly signed online generated Application Form
(i) Joining report Attested by Head of Institution/Report
(ii) Copy of Mark sheet of Senior School Certificate Exam-2011 with the online registration no written on the top of it
(iii) Copy of Caste Certificate, if applicable. Write online registration no. on its top
(iv) Income Affidavit on a non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.10/- in original. Write online registration no. on its top
(v) Income Tax Returns/Form-16 of both the Parents (of the year ending March 2011) issued by the employer should be attached along with the affidavit wherever applicable)
The Printout of Online Form bearing Registration Number, along with the documents listed attached to it, should reach ‘Section Officer (Scholarship), 7th floor, CBSE, Shiksha Kendra, 2, Community Centre, Preet Vihar, Delhi- 110092’, by ordinary post in a cover super scribed, ‘Online CSSS-2011’ on top left, latest by 31st October, 2011

Students may keep a photocopy of complete application form with them for future reference. Applications without the specified documents will be rejected summarily and no correspondence will be made/ entertained in this regard. Those students who have passed Class- XII Exam fro'm CBSE prior to 2011 need not apply.

Only online application forms will be accepted. Forms of previous year or website printouts without bearing online Registration No. will be rejected. The application in respect of the candidates who have filled in the details online but have not submitted the signed forms along with Joining report and Income affidavit before due date will be rejected.

Mere submission of the application form/fulfilling the eligibility criteria will not entitle the applicant for the award of Scholarship. Scholarships will be distributed among various streams and various categories on merit as per criteria advised by the Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India.

Applicant is entitled to receive only one scholarship at a time. If the applicant is in receipt of any scholarship fro'm any other scheme he/she has to refund that scholarship, failing which action will be taken as per rules. The information regarding receipt of application for scholarship and its details will be displayed/updated on website fro'm time to time.

Any change in address and Bank Details must be immediately reported to ‘Section Officer (Scholarship), 7th floor, CBSE, Shiksha Kendra, 2, Community Centre, Preet Vihar, Delhi-110092’, along with the Online Registration No., Name and Roll No., of the applicant and copy of the form submitted. UGC NET (Dec 2011) Examination

UGC NET Dec 2011 exam will be held on December 24, 2011for Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lectureship. UGC Online applications for NET Dec 2011 are being invited.

Candidates applied for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)will be eligible for research work and will also eligible for lectureship after qualifying the exam. Candidates applied for lectureship will not be considered for JRF after qualifying the exam.

Candidates should clearly state in the NET exam for what they are applying both JRF & Lectureship OR only for Lectureship.

Eligibility: PG candidates with 55% marks in Master’s Degree are eligible for this exam.

Candidates who have appeared OR will be appearing in the final year of Master’s degree and whose result is still awaited may also apply for this Test.

Ph.D. degree holders whose have pursued their Master degree by 19th September, 1991 (date of result announcement), they should have secured 50% in PG and they will be eligible for appearing in NET.

Candidates are advised to appear in the subject of their PG only. Candidates, whose PG subject is not available in the list of UGC subjects, may appear in a related subject.

UGC NET Online registration has been started from26th Sep 2011 and will be closed on Oct. 25, 2011. Last date for receipt of documents at the test center is Oct. 31, 2011. Already registered candidates can apply online directly. If not registered yet, they should register first.

Examination fee is Rs. 450. Fee for OBC is Rs. 225 and for SC/ST/PH/VH, it is Rs. 110. Fee should be submitted through Bank Challan Form.

Two copies of printout of online application, 1 copy of Attendance Slip and 1 copy of Admission Card alongwith required documents must be sent to “the Registrar of the University (UGC Test Centre)”.

Envelope containing the Form should be superscribed as “UGC National Eligibility Test For Junior Research Fellowship And Eligibility For Lectureship, December 2011”.

Candidates must affix their recent same passport size photos on the printout of NET Online Application and must sign across the photo after it is affixed so that a part of the sign spreads over the Form beyond the photo. It should be attested.

University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of  1000  PG Scholarships under the scheme of PG Scholarship for Professional Courses for SC & ST candidates for the year 2011-2012 to undertake postgraduate level studies in professional subjects like Engineering & Technology, Management, Pharmacy etc. on regular basis only.

Only those candidates who have been admitted in postgraduate professional subjects at recognised universities/colleges during the academic session 2011-12 are eligible to apply under the scheme.

Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) of Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and Indo-US Science & Technology Forum (IUSSTF) committed to the common goal of promoting science and technology through devised programs and to nurture contacts between scientists and technologists at an early career stage jointly launch the Indo-US Research Fellowship Program for Indian Researchers. The objective of the Indo-US Research Fellowship Program for Indian Researchers is to introduce scientists and engineers in the early stages of their careers to international collaborative research opportunities, thereby furthering their research capacity and global perspective and forging long-term relationships with scientists, technologists and engineers in USA.

These awards will provide an excellent opportunity to young Indian scientists and technologists of all disciplines, under the age of 40 years to interact with the American scientific community and get first hand information of the developments taking place at the international level and acquaint themselves with new scientific research methods and to collaborate in a larger research project. It will enable young Indian researchers to carry out a clearly defined research project at a place of their choice in USA upto a period of 12 months. The individual availing this fellowship would be called as an IUSSTF Research Fellow.

Eligibility Criteria for Indo-US Research Fellowship

Academic Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Science, Engineering,Technology or Medicine.

Applicants must provide proof of independent research work in internationally recognized academic journals.

Age: Upto 40 years as on 31 December 2011

Employment: A permanent position in a public funded R&D lab/ S&T institution (non-private)/ recognized universities/colleges in India

Area of Work: Area proposed by the candidate should be clearly defined as:

(i) Atmospheric and Earth Sciences
(ii) Chemical Sciences
(iiii) Engineering Sciences
(iv) Life Sciences
(v) Medical Sciences
(vi) Mathematical and Computational Sciences
(vii) Physical Sciences

Promising applications in areas other than the above areas may also be considered.

Place of work: The fellow should be accepted by the US scientific/technological institution, which is internationally recognized as an outstanding institution where major work in the identified area is in progress. There should be willingness on the part of the American institution to accept and extend necessary support to the candidate for the work proposed.

The candidate should himself/herself correspond with their proposed host institution abroad for placement. Candidate is required to produce evidence, in the form of a letter of acceptance fro'm the US institution to be visited along with merits/uniqueness of that host institute in the proposed area.

Note: The candidates who have availed any other overseas fellowship to USA for a period of more than three months through any Government/public funding agency during last two years will also not be considered for this fellowship.

Fellowship:
“The IUSSTF Fellow will be entitled to fellowship amount of US $ 3000 per month.”

"IUSSTF Fellow will also be entitled to a personal contingency grant of upto a maximum of Rs. 50,000 to cover for visa, airport transfer, medical insurance etc. Medical insurance expenses, visa fee, airport transfer charges will be met by the fellow fro'm out of this personal contingency grant."

IUSSTF Fellow will also be permitted to travel within USA to attend conferences or visit other institutes of interest with the approval of the advisor at the host institute. The Fellow will be entitled to avail one of the following grants for this purpose.
i) Grant of $ 600 for fellowship period upto 6 months
ii) Grant of $ 1200 for fellowship period beyond 6 months

Air-tickets for all the selected IUSSTF Fellow would be provided directly by the IUSSTF travel desk by economy class and shortest route fro'm their place of work in India to the place of the American host institute and back. As a rule, reimbursements will not be provided for air tickets purchased directly.

Rules governing payment of salary, leave, medical, gratuity, GPF and pension etc. of the organization/ institution/ university to which the fellow belongs would continue to be applicable. No liability on any of these accounts will be borne by IUSSTF.

The candidate selected for the award of the Indo-US fellowship should commence their research with six month period fro'm the date of award announcement. Failure to do so would render the fellow forfeit the award.

Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan 2012 (U.K.)


Applications are invited fro'm Indian nationals for nominations fro'm India for award of Commonwealth Scholarships in United Kingdom tenable fro'm September/ October 2012 for higher studies /research /specialized training in the subjects mentioned below in the United Kingdom. Upto Sixty (60) nominations are to be sent to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for final selection to be made by them. Out of these not more than twenty five (25) are for doctoral studies

LEVEL OF COURSE These scholarships will be awarded for studies leading to either: -

SIX MONTHS OF CLINICAL TRAINING (For MBBS, BDS,MS, MD degree holders only who have qualified as MBBS and BDS between 1st October, 2002 and 30th September, 2007).

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


The candidates must have completed tertiary education in English Medium :-

(A) FOR MASTER’S DEGREE

One should hold or able to produce the certificate of Bachelor’s Degree by October, 2012 in the subject field concerned (indicated above) securing 60% or above marks in Humanities and Social Science group and 65% or above marks in Medical, Engineering and Technology, Science and Agriculture Group. Candidate should give one page academic justification for pursuing the course in U.K.

**Candidates who wish to undertake postgraduate study in Business and/or Management should before applying for a Commonwealth Scholarship, have taken the Graduate Management Admission Test (Princeton Test). An IELTS test will only be considered valid if taken after 1st October 2011 and before 6th March 2012.

(B) FOR Ph.D. DEGREE

One should hold or able to produce the certificate of Master’s Degree by October 2012 in the concerned subject fields (indicated above) securing 60% or above marks in Humanities and Social Science group and 65% or above marks in the relevant subjects in Medical, Engineering and Technology, Science and Agriculture Group.

VALUE OF AWARD

Each scholarship provides: -

(A) Student concessionary or other approved airfare to the United Kingdom by the most direct and economical route and return on expiry of the scholarship (the cost of journey made before receipt of award will not normally be reimbursed nor can fares be paid for a scholar’s dependents).

(B) Approved tuition and examination fees.

(C) A personal maintenance allowance at the rate of 882 pound per month (1091 pound per month for those studying at institutions in the London Metropolitan area)

(D) A grant towards the expenses of preparing a thesis or dissertation, where applicable.

(E) An initial arrival allowance, incorporating in initial clothing grant for scholars fro'm tropical countries.

(F) A grant for expenses for approved travel within the United Kingdom or overseas.

(G) A grant towards fieldwork costs for those Scholars undertaking doctoral studies for whom a case has been made for fieldwork outside the United Kingdom. This shall not normally exceed one economy class return airfare to the fieldwork location.

(H) A paid mid-term fare to their home country for Scholars on three years doctoral awards. Scholars for whom fieldwork fares are provided to their home country shall not be entitled to a mid-term fare home, nor Scholars who have claimed (or intend to claim) spouse or child allowances for more than 12 months during their award.

(I) For married Scholars selected by the Commission for awards exceeding 18 months, a marriage allowance of 220 pound per month is payable provided that the husband and wife (of civil partners) are residing together at the same address in the United Kingdom. It is not paid when a husband or wife (or civil partner) of the Scholar is also in receipt of an award.
For such married couples accompanied by their children, a child allowance is payable at the rate of 138 pound per month for the first child and 108 pound per month for the second and third child under the age of 16, provided they are residing with their parents. The Commission’s spouse and family allowances represent only a contribution towards the cost of family maintenance in the UK and Scholars should expect and be able to supplement these allowances to support family members who choose to come to the UK. Irrespective of the length of the award, a scholar who is widowed, divorced or a lone parent will receive an allowance in respect of the first accompanying children and child allowances for the second and third accompanying children.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS :

1. A candidate may apply for only one subject of his/her choice.

2. As a condition of award, the Commission or a host institution in Britain may also require a candidate to take particular English Tests and/or training in English.

3. The final selection of the nominated candidates rests with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in U.K.

4. Nomination of a candidate by Government of India does not guarantee final selection or placement. The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission will make its own selection out of overall nominees recommended by all the participating countries in the programme.

5. Application must be accompanied by attested copies of certificates regarding date of birth, diplomas, degrees, mark sheets in respect of all the examination passed alongwith experience certificate of Employment (if any) and one copy of recently taken passport size photograph with signature (to be pasted on application form). Self attested certificates will not be accepted.

7. Applicants already holding a Doctoral Degree or about to obtain will not be considered. Candidates who have already done a Ph.D. in India or abroad are not considered.

8. Candidates who have already been abroad for studies/training/specialization either on scholarships or on their own, for a period exceeding six months are eligible to apply if they have been in India for at least two consecutive years after returning fro'm abroad as on 12.10.2011. Applications of candidates who are already abroad will not be considered.

9. In case of candidates qualifying fro'm Universities, where grades are awarded, the candidates are required to furnish exact percentage of marks and indicate the conversion formula.

10. Candidates will be expected to have some knowledge of India and of the donor country.

11. Candidates who are employed must apply through their employers. Candidates belonging to the All India Services should send their applications through their Cadre Controlling Authority. No Objection Certificate fro'm Employer should be submitted on or before the time of interview. Otherwise candidates will not be allowed to appear for interview and no TA will be given.

12. It is very important that applicants who are in employment to which they wish to return after completion of their studies in UK should have an assurance fro'm their Organisation that if their nomination is successful, they will be granted sufficient leave of absence. In general, a candidate undertaking research for a Ph.D. can be expected to need 36 months study in the United Kingdom even though in the first instance, the award will only be offered for one or two years.

13. While indicating the period of past experience and stay abroad, candidates should mention the specific dates.

14. As these scholarships are offered by Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in UK the applications should be submitted in English only.

15. Applications in subject-fields other than those specified in the advertisement will not be considered.

16. Candidates who do not possess the essential qualification need not apply.

17. Candidates must furnish a clear and precise programme of study/research (minimum 500 words) justifying that their study/research can be carried out in the United Kingdom. Candidates are advised to describe their plan for study/research proposals carefully as these will be a primary condition in selection both PG/Ph.D course.

In case no interview letter is received by an applicant by 15th November, 2011, it may be presumed that he/she has not been short listed by the Selection Committee. No correspondence will be entertained in this regard.

Candidates are expected to state up to three preferred institutions(s) on the application form, but the final decision on host institution will be made by the Commission. Candidates are advised to submit independent applications directly to their preferred institutions at the same time as applying for this Scholarship. Where formal offers of admission have been obtained, these should be included with the application.

All candidates applying for Doctoral Study must provide the commission with evidence of support fro'm a prospective supervisor at atleast one of their chosen Institutions at the time of application. So, if such support letter is not submitted at the time of interview, he/she will not be allowed to appear before the interview and no TA will be given.

Applications (in English or Hindi) are invited latest by 30th September, 2011 in the prescribed proforma from the persons with disabilities to award the National Scholarships for the year 2011-12 for pursuing technical and professional courses from recognized institutions. Salient features of the scheme are:-
 500 National scholarships will be awarded to eligible students with disabilities for the year 2011-12 for pursuing technical and professional courses from recognized institutions.
 Financial Assistance can be given for computer with editing software for blind/deaf graduate and post graduate students pursuing professional courses and for support access software for cerebral palsy students.
 Scholarship of Rs.1000/-p.m. for hostellers and Rs.700/- p.m. for day scholars studying in professional courses at graduation and above level, and Rs.700/- p.m. for hostellers and Rs.400/- p.m. for day scholars pursuing Diploma /certificate level professional. Course fee is reimbursed upto ceiling of Rs.10,000/- per year.

National Talent Search Examination 2012

National Talent Search Scheme is a flagship activity of the NCERT started in the year 1963. The purpose of the scheme was to identify talented students and nurture their talent.  Talent refers to the potentiality that manifests itself in a high level of performance in one or more specialized areas.  The scheme, therefore, covers areas like Sciences, Social Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law.  It honours and helps talented students by providing financial assistance in the form of a monthly scholarship.  For the courses in Basic Sciences, Social Sciences and Commerce, this assistance is provided up to Ph.D. level.  For professional courses like Engineering, Medicine, Management and Law this assistance is given only up to Post Graduation.  The NCERT conducts the National Talent Search Examination for students studying in Class VIII only.


1. Scholarships: On the basis of the examination conducts, 1000 scholarships will be awarded for each group of students appearing for class-VIII examination. The amount of scholarship will be Rs 500/- per month as per NTS rules


2. Reservation: 15% scholarships will be reserved for students belonging to the SC category, 7.5% scholarships for students belonging to the ST category and 3% for Physically Challenged group of students


3. Selection: There will be two-stage selection process for award of scholarship. For Stage-I, selection will be done by states/UTs through a written examination. Students who qualify Stage I will be eligible to appear for Stage II examination conducted by NCERT


4. The States/UTs will also conduct the selection test for National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme along with the Stage-I written examination for NTS.

Stage I (State)

Examination in Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Andaman and Nicobar Islands: 19th November, 2011 (Saturday)

6. Eligibility: Students of Class VIII studying in recognized schools are eligible to appear for the respective Class VIII Stage I examination conducted by the States/UTs in which the schools are located. There will be no domicile restriction.


7. Examination: The pattern of written examination for Class VIII will be as follows:


• Stage I examination at the State/UT level will comprise two parts, namely (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT) and (b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics.


• Stage II examination at the National level will comprise (a) Mental Ability Test (MAT), (b) Scholastic Ability Test (SAT) covering social sciences, sciences and mathematics, (c) Interview. Only those candidates who qualify the written examination at the National Level will be invited for interview.


8. State Quotas: Each State/Union Territory has been allotted a quota to recommend a specific number of candidates for the Stage II examination, the details of which will be made available on NCERT website. However, there will be no State/Union Territory Quota for the final award of scholarship after the Stage II examination. Reservation for SC, ST and physically challenged will be as notified in para 2 above.


 


9. NTSE Application Form: You may contact the State/UT Liaison officer for procuring application form. However, application form can be downloaded fro'm NCERT website http://www.ncert.nic.in also. All correspondence relating to application forms should be addressed to the State Liaison Officers (LOs) whose addresses are given at the end/Website.


10. The completed application form duly signed by Principal of the school should be submitted to the LO/ concerned district official of the State before the last date.


11. Fees: States and Union Territories may notify the fee required which will be paid for the Stage-I examination. Therefore, before submitting the application form you may find out the fees charged for 2010 stage-I examination and also the mode of payment fro'm the respective State Liaison officers, (LOs). However, NCERT does not charge any fee for Stage-II examination


12. Announcement of Results: NTSE Results of the Stage-I examination will be announced by the respective State Governments/ Union Territories. Results of Stage-II examination will be announced by NCERT.


13. Indian Students Studying Abroad can appear directly for Stage II NTS Examination under conditions prescribed in the NTS brochure for class VIII which is available on the NCERT website. Candidates may fill up relevant items of the Application Form available on the NCERT website and send to the undersigned along with a photocopy of the mark sheet of previous examination latest by March 31st, 2012

Maulana Azad National Fellowship 2011

University Grant Commission ( UGC) has invited applications for Maulana Azad National Fellowship ( MANF ) 2010-11 candidateswho are from minority community i.e. Muslim, Sikh, Christian and Parsian. This fellowship is given to those minority students to study in Science, Engineering and Technology, Humanity and Social Science for doing M.Phil or P.H.D who are not facilitated by JRF by UGG – NET or UGC-CSIR.










ELIGIBILITY:
A candidate has to fulfill the following conditions to be eligible for award of this fellowship

(i) He/she should belong to one of the minority communities notified under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992.

(ii) He/she should get admission and registration for regular and full time M.Phil/Ph.D courses in University/Academic Institution by fulfilling conditions of admission of that University/Institution, subject to provisions of the Fellowship as per advertisement of UGC.

(iii) The minority community students once considered eligible for the fellowship shall not be entitled to benefits under any other source, Central or State Government or any other body like UGC for the same study.

(iv) Prior clearance of NET/SLET examination will not be a prerequisite for award of Maulana Azad National Fellowship for minority students for M.Phil/Ph.D.

(v) In order to qualify for the award of JRF/ SRF the UGC norms would be applicable at pre-M.Phil and pre-Ph.D stage, respectively, including the minimum score of 50% at post graduate level.

 

The rate of fellowship for JRF and SRF will be at par with the UGC fellowship as amended from time to time. Presently these rates are as follows

Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for SC/ST Candidates: 2011-12

Introduction: The Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship (RGNF) Scheme for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes is formulated and funded by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The scheme is open to candidates who belong to Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe and wish to pursue higher studies such as regular and full time M.Phil. and Ph.D degrees in Sciences, Humanities, Social Sciences and Engineering & Technology. There are 2000 slots for Scheduled Caste and 667 slots for Scheduled Tribe candidates every year for all the subjects.

Objective:The scheme has been initiated keeping in view the social background of the candidates for the deprived section of the society and to provide them opportunity to undertake advanced studies and research. The objective of this award is to provide fellowships in the form of financial assistance to students belonging to SC/ST to pursue higher studies leading to M.Phil and Ph.D degrees in Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences and Engineering & Technology.

Eligibility: The candidate should belong to SC/ST and should have passed the Post Graduate examination. The selection will be made on the basis of merit of the candidates. The candidate must get himself/herself registered for M.Phil./Ph.D at the first available opportunity but not later than within a period of two years from the receipt of award letter. This period is not extendable.However, the actual payment of fellowship will be made with effect from the date of approval of fellowship or date of joining whichever is later.

NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES(2011-12)

Applications (in English or Hindi) are invited latest by 31st August, 2011 in the prescribed proforma from the persons with disabilities to award the National Scholarships for the year 2011-12 for pursuing technical and professional courses from recognized institutions.

Salient features of the Scholarship:

1. 500 National scholarships will be given to eligible students with disabilities.

2. Financial Assistance can be provided for computer with editing software for blind/deaf graduate and PG students doing professional programmes and for support access software for cerebral palsy students.

3. Scholarship of Rs. 1000 per month for hostellers and Rs. 700 per month for day scholars studying in professional programmes at graduation and higher level and Rs. 700 per month for hostellers and Rs. 400 per month for day scholars doing Diploma /certificate level professional. Fee is refunded upto ceiling of ten thousand per year.
