Five UKNA Cadres Apprehended in Churachandpur; Arms and Ammunition Seized

Churachandpur, October 3, 2025: In a major counter-insurgency success, the 36 Assam Rifles launched an operation in the general area of Songkot village under Henglep Sub-Division, Churachandpur, on October 2, which led to the apprehension of five cadres of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA).

According to police sources, those arrested have been identified as Paolenlal Kipgen (30), Kamgoulen (23), Lhunkholen Singson (26), Thangzasuan (14), and Khaiginpau (37), all residents of Churachandpur district.

During the operation, security forces recovered a cache of arms and war-like stores including one M79 Grenade Launcher with three bombs, two 9mm pistols with five rounds, eight radio sets with chargers, eight pairs of jungle shoes, three kilograms of opium seeds, and three mobile handsets.

Police confirmed that a case has been registered under FIR No. 5(10)2025 HLP-PS invoking sections of the UA(P) Act, Arms Act, and Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act. The four adult accused were produced before the Duty Magistrate and remanded into police custody, while the juvenile has been placed in an Observation Home.

Authorities said further investigation is underway to trace the network and activities of the outfit in the region.
