Recognized as an influential source of news and information for the broader Kuki-Chin-Mizo communities across Northeast India, Virthli is a trusted voice for the region's people.

Founded on the vision to "Usher Change", Virthli operates as a non-profit entity, maintaining complete independence from corporate or political influence. Our core mission is to empower marginalized voices, cultivate cultural pride, and connect communities through impactful journalism and innovative digital tools.

What We Do

Virthli provides comprehensive coverage across a wide spectrum of topics vital to the region, including:

  • Major national and Northeast India news developments.
  • Issues specifically impacting the Chin-Kuki-Mizo and other tribal communities.
  • In-depth analysis of politics, society, culture, and socio-economic challenges.
  • Content focused on the development and promotion of Hmar literature and identity.

Our content is published in both English and Hmar languages, ensuring vital information is accessible to native speakers and a wider global audience.

Virthli's impactful work has received notable recognition. In 2016, Virthli.in was honored with the eNorth East Award in the "E-News & Media - Social Media for Empowerment" category. Presented at the 6th eNorth East Award Summit in Shillong, the award acknowledged our innovative application of digital media to empower the people of Northeast India.

Beyond News

Extending our commitment beyond traditional news dissemination, Virthli also develops and maintains community-driven digital tools. These include several mobile applications available on the Google Play Store, and notably, the only Online English ↔ Hmar Dictionary, which serves as a crucial linguistic and educational resource for the community.

Our Team

Virthli is powered by the unwavering dedication of a team comprising 18 passionate volunteers. This diverse group includes engineers, journalists, student leaders, technology enthusiasts, and photographers who generously contribute their time and skills without monetary compensation. Together, they form the backbone of the Virthli News Network, working tirelessly to ensure the stories of the land and its people are brought to light.

More than just a news website, Virthli represents a movement dedicated to fostering change, preserving culture, and empowering the community it serves.
