Aizawl, September 1, 2025: The Governor of Mizoram has issued an order entrusting Dr. Vanlalthlana, Minister of School Education and Higher & Technical Education Departments, with additional responsibilities to assist the Chief Minister in matters related to taxation under the Finance Department.
According to the notification, Dr. Vanlalthlana will support the Chief Minister in the following areas:
• Policy on taxes and related matters
• Taxes on professions, trades, callings, and employment
• Value Added Tax (VAT)
• Goods and Services Tax (GST) and related issues
• Registration of firms and societies
• Registration of partnership firms
The arrangement comes into effect immediately and is aimed at strengthening policy oversight and governance in taxation matters, which are considered crucial for revenue generation and fiscal management in the state.

Officials stated that the move reflects the government’s emphasis on streamlining taxation systems and ensuring better coordination between departments under the leadership of the Chief Minister.
