PM Modi to Visit Assam: CM Himanta Biswa Unveils Major Welfare and Infrastructure Initiatives

Guwahati, August 1, 2025: Among the key announcements, Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Assam on September 8 to inaugurate various developmental projects and kick off Bhupen Hazarika’s birth centenary celebrations, as revealed by Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma in a press conference today.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah is also set to visit the state on August 29 for Golap Borbora’s birth centenary celebration.

Dr. Sarma announced the launch of Orunodoi 3.0 on September 17, aiming to provide monetary assistance to 40 lakh beneficiaries. A pilot project offering ₹250 LPG assistance for Orunodoi recipients will also roll out, with each household receiving selection letters, enrolment forms, and a dedicated booklet.

From August 6, the government will begin distributing Nijut Moina forms, now expanded to include girls from Central Universities and self-financed courses.

A mega project including a Stadium, Convention Centre, and Amusement Park near Guwahati Airport was also unveiled.

To mark Bhupen Hazarika’s centenary, a dedicated portal for invitations will be launched, and 1,000 artistes will perform a 23-minute tribute during the opening ceremony.

Dr. Sarma also announced a new cooperative model in Assam’s villages, focusing on youth entrepreneurship and indigenous land protection.

These initiatives showcase the Assam Government’s multifaceted focus on welfare, empowerment, cultural legacy, and infrastructure development.
