IMD Issues Red Alert for Arunachal Pradesh; Extremely Heavy Rainfall Forecast for August 2–3

Itanagar, August 1, 2025: The Arunachal Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) has issued an urgent weather warning following an Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast predicting thunderstorms, lightning, and very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across multiple districts of the state on August 2 and 3.

According to the bulletin issued today, the districts most likely to be affected on August 2 include Papumpare, East Kameng, Lower Subansiri, Anjaw, Namsai, West Siang, and Leparada. On August 3, the severe weather may intensify, impacting East Kameng, West Kameng, West Siang, Namsai, Lower Dibang Valley, Kamle, Papumpare, Anjaw, and Lohit.

APSDMA has advised residents, especially those in low-lying areas, near hillsides, and construction zones, to remain vigilant for possible flooding, landslides, flash floods, and lightning strikes. Commuters and long-distance travelers are urged to plan their journeys cautiously and avoid travel during intense rain. Outdoor activities should also be postponed.

Emergency response systems across the state are now on high alert, with all Deputy Commissioners and District Disaster Management Authorities (DDMAs) closely monitoring the situation. The APSDMA is coordinating efforts to ensure timely updates and support to the public.

Citizens are strongly encouraged to stay updated through official weather advisories and follow instructions issued by district authorities to ensure their safety during this adverse weather spell.
