Guwahati, August 26, 2025: The Assam State Election Commission has announced the schedule for the much-awaited election to the 40 constituencies of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). According to the official timetable, the poll process will commence on August 26, 2025, with the issue of notice of election, and conclude before September 28, 2025.
As per the Election Commission, the last date for filing nominations is September 2, with scrutiny set for September 4. The list of validly nominated candidates will be published the same day, and candidates may withdraw their nominations by September 6. The final list of contesting candidates will also be published on September 6.
Polling will take place on September 22, 2025 (Monday), with a fresh poll, if necessary, scheduled for September 24. Counting of votes will be held on September 26, and the entire election process will conclude before September 28.
A total of 26,57,937 voters - including 13,23,399 males and 13,34,521 females - are eligible to participate in the elections, reflecting an 11.35% increase since the last BTC polls in 2020. The number of polling stations has also risen to 3,359, a 6.77% jump from 2020. Among the 40 constituencies, 30 are reserved for Scheduled Tribes, 5 for Non-STs, and 5 are open.

The maximum expenditure ceiling for candidates has been set at ₹10 lakh each. Recognised national and state political parties can field a maximum of 20 star campaigners, while registered unrecognised parties are permitted up to 10.
The Assam State Election Commission remains committed to ensuring a smooth and fair electoral process, emphasizing the ongoing revision of the electoral roll and the addition of eligible new voters until the last date for filing nominations.
