Shillong, August 26, 2025: The State Cabinet has reviewed the Report of the Meghalaya Public Service Commission (MPSC) Reforms Committee, 2025, which recommends a series of short-term, medium-term and long-term measures to make the Commission more transparent, accountable, and efficient.
Among the short-term measures, the Committee has suggested:
• Formation of multiple interview boards to expedite recruitment.
• Clear and transparent interview protocols.
• Conflict of interest safeguards, requiring members to recuse if relatives are candidates.
• Mandatory declaration of assets and liabilities by the Chairman and members.
• Publication of an annual MPSC calendar and annual reports.
• Establishment of a grievance redressal cell.
• Ensuring candidate roll numbers remain unchanged throughout recruitment.
• Public disclosure of personal interview marks and candidate scores.
• Strict confidentiality of question papers to prevent leaks.
• No changes to recruitment once the process begins.
• Publishing candidate-to-vacancy ratios.
• Release of answer keys after examinations, with a defined window for challenges.
• Addressing corruption and vigilance cases under the Meghalaya Lokayukta Act, 2014.

The government said these reforms are aimed at restoring public confidence in the MPSC and strengthening merit-based recruitment. Medium-term and long-term reforms will be taken up in subsequent phases, officials informed.
