Imphal, June 7, 2025: Security forces conducted a series of intensive search and domination operations across fringe and vulnerable areas in both the hill and valley districts of Manipur, leading to significant seizures of illegal arms and key arrests linked to extortion and insurgent activity.
In one of the largest recoveries, a joint operation in Itham Uyok Hill and its adjoining foothills under Thoubal Dam Police Station, Imphal East, yielded a cache of high-caliber weaponry, explosives, and communication equipment. The items recovered included:
• One .303 rifle with magazine
• Two 12 bore single barrel guns
• Two 51 mm mortars
• One 75 mm mortar
• One 50 mm heavy calibre launcher with bipod
• One 30 mm heavy calibre launcher
• One Pompi gun
• Six No. 36 hand grenades with detonators and arming rings
• Four lathode shells
• Multiple rounds of live ammunition across various calibres
• One IED weighing approximately 2.5 kg
• Wireless radio sets, binoculars, and helmets
Additional operations were carried out in Dampi Hills, located about 3.5 km southeast under Churachandpur Police Station. Here, forces recovered:
• Two country-made single barrel rifles
• One radio set with battery
• One bulletproof jacket cover
• One helmet
A separate search in Kadangband Part-I under Lamsang PS, Imphal West, led to the recovery of:
• Two pistols
• Two magazines
• Four rounds of ammunition
Targeted Arrests in Anti-Extortion Operations
As part of intelligence-based combing and cordon-and-search operations aimed at curbing extortion, several insurgents were apprehended.
On June 6, an active cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group), identified as Wahengbam Naoton Meitei alias Ngachomi (35), was arrested from Sawombung Wairi, Imphal East. He was allegedly involved in threatening the public with severe consequences for defying unauthorized "moral policing" orders. A mobile phone and Aadhaar card were seized from his possession.

On June 7, two more active KCP (PWG) cadres - Leishangthem Amujao Singh alias Ngamba (31) and Elangbam Umarani Devi (32) - were arrested from Leishangthem Bazar, Thoubal District. Authorities said they were involved in extortion by issuing monetary threats. A mobile phone and Aadhaar card were recovered from them.

Authorities reaffirmed that coordinated efforts will continue across the state to dismantle militant networks, disrupt extortion rackets, and secure volatile regions. These operations underline the intensified push by law enforcement to restore peace and order amidst ongoing tensions in Manipur.
