Rengkai, Tuithaphai, June 7, 2025: The Young Paite Association (YPA) and Hmar Youth Association (HYA) held a joint meeting on June 6, 2025, between 2 - 4 PM at the HYA General Headquarters (GHQ) Office Meeting Hall in Rengkai, Tuithaphai. The meeting concluded with the adoption of a Joint Declaration, signaling stronger unity and cooperation between the two prominent youth organizations.
The YPA-GHQ was represented by its Central Executive Committee (CEC), Block and Unit leaders, while the HYA-GHQ was joined by its Tuithaphai Joint Headquarters and branch leaders.
The joint meeting, initiated at the request of YPA, addressed several key issues. Among them was a firm rejection of tribal or communal incitement via social media, misuse of public platforms, and reckless dissemination of unverified information. Both groups called for mutual respect, responsible engagement, and the avoidance of provocative actions, including public gatherings, inflammatory posts, or physical gestures that might escalate tensions.
The YPA also announced the formation of its Disaster Response Team and expressed its commitment to conduct joint first-aid training and exercises in coordination with HYA. Both organizations recognized the need for unity and cooperation in times of crisis, pledging to support each other with a spirit of selflessness and dedication.
Regarding concerns over divisive content on social media and WhatsApp channels, YPA clarified that such activities are not supported or endorsed by the organization. It emphasized that those engaging in such behavior represent only a small minority and do not reflect the views or intentions of the broader membership.
The meeting concluded with symbolic mutual greetings between the leaders of YPA and HYA, followed by a prayer-led closing session by YPA members, expressing hope for continued peace and cooperation.
