Monitor Lizard Rescued and Released Back into the Wild

Tuiá¹­haphai, June 5, 2025, Virthli: At around 2:45 PM today, a Monitor Lizard (locally known as Tangkawng) was spotted inside a residence in Muolbem village, Tuiá¹­haphai/Churachandpur. Upon discovering the reptile, the residents promptly alerted the Save Wildlife Foundation (SWF), which responded swiftly to the situation.

Monitor Lizard Rescued and Released Back into the Wild

SWF rescue personnel arrived without delay and successfully captured the Monitor Lizard. In coordination with the Forest Department (FD), the animal was subsequently released into a safe and natural forest habitat.

Thanks to the quick action of the residents and the prompt intervention by SWF and the Forest Department, the protected species was rescued and relocated without any harm to either the animal or the public.
