Churachandpur, June 16, 2025: A team of senior officials from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of Manipur, along with representatives from the Manipur Tribal Development Corporation Ltd. (MTDC), conducted a detailed inspection of the upcoming Science Centre and Planetarium at Lamjang, Churachandpur.
The inspection team included Smt. Kengoo Zuringla, Secretary (Science & Technology); Smt. Homila Hongrei, Director (Science & Technology); Shri T.D. Kom, Joint Director; Shri K. Yarreingam Rangry, Scientific Officer; and Shri Samuel Lalropar Hmar, Executive Engineer of MTDC Ltd. The visit focused on assessing the current progress of the project and identifying key requirements for timely completion.
One of the primary concerns raised during the inspection was the urgent need for a reliable power supply, which is essential for the scheduled installation of scientific exhibits in June and July 2025. The team also carried out survey and planning work for various infrastructure elements, including the outdoor science park pathway, flower beds, fencing, main gate, security shed, and ticket counter.

Officials expressed satisfaction with the ongoing development and reiterated the government's commitment to fostering scientific curiosity and education among the youth. Once completed, the Science Centre and Planetarium at Lamjang is expected to become a prominent learning hub for students and science enthusiasts across the region.
