Saikul, Kangpokpi, June 16, 2025: The Kuki Inpi Youth Affairs (KIYA) has strongly condemned an alleged illegal incursion by a large Meitei mob into a buffer zone near Wakan Kuki area under Saikul Subdivision, Kangpokpi District, on the morning of June 15, 2025.

According to a press communiqué released by KIYA, the incident took place around 8:00 AM, when a group from Leitanpokpi (Khundrakpam A/C, Imphal East) infiltrated the buffer zone and entered tribal Kuki land under the pretense of ploughing. The youth body termed the act as a "clear, premeditated bid" to encroach upon Kuki territory and alleged that it was part of a broader pattern of ethnic cleansing and forced displacement carried out over the past two years.

The organization expressed serious concern over the failure of Central Security Forces to prevent the intrusion, questioning how such a sizable group managed to breach the buffer zone in broad daylight if surveillance was in place. KIYA suggested that the incident raises troubling questions about the effectiveness or possible complicity of the forces tasked with securing the area.

Issuing a stern warning, KIYA declared that any further provocation from the Meitei community would be met with resolute resistance. It further cautioned that continued inaction by Central Forces in protecting the buffer zone would compel the community to defend itself.

“Let it be clear: Kuki youths will no longer remain passive in the face of such systematic aggression,” the statement read. “Should the government fail to protect us, we will take all necessary measures to defend our land, our rights, and our future.”
