Shillong | June 16, 2025: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Monday inaugurated the inaugural Meghalaya Health Summit in Shillong, marking a major step towards strengthening the state’s healthcare landscape.
At the summit, the Chief Minister handed over appointment letters to newly recruited Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM) and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) professionals. These healthcare workers will soon be deployed across various parts of the state to serve local communities.
Addressing the gathering, CM Sangma urged the newly appointed nurses to carry out their duties with empathy, integrity, and passion, while reiterating that healthcare remains one of the government’s topmost priorities.
“In the last seven years, we have placed health at the forefront of our development agenda. Meghalaya now has the highest budgetary allocation for health in the country, reflecting our commitment to this vital sector,” he said.
The Chief Minister outlined the government’s multi-pronged strategy for health sector improvement, focusing on recruitment of skilled manpower, upgrading infrastructure, and leveraging technology to create a proactive and responsive healthcare system.
