Aizawl, June 12, 2025: The Directorate of Information & Public Relations (I&PR), Government of Mizoram, organized a one-day workshop titled “Media Sensitization for YouTubers” at the I&PR Conference Hall, Lianchhiari Run, Aizawl. The programme was aimed at educating YouTubers across the state on responsible content creation, ethical media practices, and the role of digital influencers in shaping public opinion. The session was chaired by Pu C. Lalnunkima, Director of I&PR.
Prof. Irene Lalruatkimi, Head of the Department of Mass Communication at Mizoram University, served as the resource person. She highlighted the growing importance of social media in today’s world and underlined the responsibility that comes with being a content creator. She emphasized that YouTubers are not only entertainers but can also be powerful voices for positive social change. She discussed the significance of media as the "Fourth Pillar of Democracy" and stressed the need for creators to remain truthful, culturally respectful, and linguistically responsible in their work.
The workshop also addressed the impact of misinformation, the importance of preserving the Mizo language and cultural identity in online content, and the civic responsibilities of those with large digital platforms.

Members of the Mizo YouTubers Association, formed in 2022 and now comprising over 60 members, actively took part in the event. Among the speakers were Pu Harry Khiangte, President of the Association; Pu Mani-a of Mizo Official Channel; Pu Vanneihthanga of Mizo Special Report; Pu Mapuia of FTH; Pi Mali, Executive Producer of Runmawi; Pu Vanlalpianga of Vanlalpianga Official Channel; and Pi Mawitei of M&N Family.
The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks from Pi Mina Zoliani Joute, Joint Director of I&PR, who expressed appreciation for the enthusiastic participation and encouraged continued collaboration between the government and digital creators to ensure a more informed and responsible online community in Mizoram.
