Imphal East, June 14, 2025: A brief confrontation broke out this morning in Sadu Lampak village, Imphal East, after a Meitei farmer from Leitanpokpi attempted to plough a paddy field near a Kuki village around 10:00 AM, according to a statement by Manipur Police.
The farmer's actions reportedly drew objections from nearby Kuki villagers, who claimed the land did not belong to him. In response, a few Meitei residents from nearby areas arrived at the scene, creating a tense situation. Videos circulating on social media alleged that Kuki villagers had forcibly stopped Meitei farmers, raising communal concerns.
However, Manipur Police clarified that the situation is under control. Security forces, led by the Addl. SP of Imphal East and supported by central forces, were already present and managing the situation on the ground. Additional reinforcements, including the District SP, were also dispatched as a precaution.
