Guwahati, June 7, 2025: The Kuki SoO Groups of Assam have issued a strong public clarification today in response to misleading reports circulating across certain Manipur-based media outlets, including Impact TV and social media platforms, regarding a meeting held on June 5, 2025, in Guwahati.
The statement firmly refutes claims that the talks involved Kuki SoO Groups from Manipur or were connected to the ongoing situation in Manipur. It clarified that the meeting was a routine extension meeting conducted exclusively between Assam-based Kuki SoO groups and the Government of Assam, as part of a structured dialogue process that has been ongoing every six months since 2012.

Labeling the misinformation as false and misleading, the groups emphasized that the meeting had no bearing on Manipur and was strictly confined to Assam’s peace process. The Kuki SoO groups of Assam expressed strong condemnation of what they called the deliberate spread of fallacious reports and urged the media to uphold journalistic integrity by verifying facts before publication.
