Hope Behind Bars: 163 Inmates Awarded Graduation Certificates in Aizawl Central Jail

Aizawl, June 20, 2025: Home Minister Pu K. Sapdanga today graced the Graduation Programme organised by Set Free Ministry, India at the Central Jail, Aizawl, celebrating the educational achievements of inmates.

In his address, the Home Minister expressed deep appreciation for the efforts of Set Free Ministry in providing moral and spiritual education to inmates through their structured rehabilitation initiatives. He emphasized that jails across the world are increasingly being renamed as “Prison & Correctional Centres,” shifting the focus from punishment to transformation.

Pu Sapdanga stated that prisons must serve as places of reformation, not just confinement, allowing inmates a second chance at a meaningful life. He reminded the gathering that everyone is capable of change, and those inside the jail are no less deserving of dignity and reform than anyone else.

As part of the programme, 163 inmates who successfully completed courses using two books - "Nunkawng Dik" (Righteous Life) and "Krista Zalenna Kailawn" (Path to Christian Freedom) - were awarded Graduation Certificates, presented personally by the Home Minister.
