Himanta Biswa Sarma Holds Review Meetings on Assam’s Education Sector

Guwahati, June 2, 2025, Virthli: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma held a series of high-level meetings on Sunday focusing on various aspects of the state's education sector, reaffirming his government's commitment to building a robust and inclusive education system.

In a post on social media platform X, the Chief Minister shared highlights from four key meetings:

Adarsh Vidyalaya Sangathan: CM Sarma emphasized the need to nurture scientific thinking among students by organizing science and mathematics fairs, promoting environmental awareness, and introducing artificial intelligence (AI) orientation in schools.

Assam College Teachers' Association (ACTA): Discussions centered on initiatives taken by the government to support the holistic development of college faculty.

Teachers' Demands: The Chief Minister assured that the government would take a “positive and acceptable” stand on long-pending issues related to leave entitlements and grade pay.

Provincialisation of Schools: A detailed review was conducted with the Cabinet Sub-Committee, focusing on the conditions and progress of school provincialisation. CM Sarma directed officials to expedite the validation of data related to the process.

“We remain committed to building an education system that is strong, inclusive, and geared toward skilling and employability, while addressing the needs of all stakeholders,” Sarma said in his post.
