Aizawl, June 1, 2025, Virthli: The Aizawl District Disaster Management Authority (ADDMA) has ordered the closure of all schools across Aizawl District on Monday, June 2, 2025, in response to continued torrential rainfall and rising safety concerns.

The decision, announced by the Chairman of ADDMA, comes in light of recent incidents of mudflows, landslides, and rockfalls in various parts of the district caused by relentless rains over the past few days.

The closure order was issued following consultation with relevant stakeholders and a review of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) weather warning for June 2, which signals further risk due to the ongoing monsoon conditions.

Invoking Sections 30(2)(v) and 34(m) of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, the Chairman directed all Heads of Schools in Aizawl District to suspend student attendance for the day in the interest of student safety and public welfare.
