Five Held for Throwing Beef Near Temple to Incite Communal Tension in Assam

Goalpara, June 15, 2025: In a shocking attempt to incite communal unrest post Eid-ul-Zuha, five individuals were arrested by Lakhipur Police in Goalpara district for allegedly throwing beef near a temple.

According to Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, the arrested individuals—Bodir Ali (57), Hazarat Ali (58), Tara Mia (36), Shajamal Mia (42), and Jahangir Alom (32)—are all residents of Ward No. 10, Khakilamari, under Lakhipur Police Station.

A case has been registered, and the Chief Minister assured that strict legal action is being taken to ensure such acts aimed at disturbing communal harmony are punished.
