Dhubri, June 13, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma paid a crucial visit to Dhubri district on Thursday to assess the law and order situation following recent communal tensions that erupted during Bakri Eid. The visit came in the wake of a controversial incident involving the alleged desecration of the Hanuman Temple, which triggered unrest in the area.

During his visit, the Chief Minister chaired a high-level meeting with the Director General of Police, the Additional Chief Secretary, and other senior officials to take stock of the situation and implement measures to prevent any further escalation.

Dr. Sarma also met with local residents and stakeholders, assuring them of the government’s firm commitment to maintaining peace and communal harmony in the district. “We are fully committed to ensuring the enforcement of law and order in Dhubri and to defeating all communal forces,” the Chief Minister said.

Referring to the reported incident of beef being thrown into the Hanuman Temple premises, Dr. Sarma expressed strong condemnation. “This should have never happened. Those involved won’t be spared. I have directed law enforcement agencies to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against anyone desecrating temples, naamghars, or any sacred space,” “We have issued shoot-at-sight orders against miscreants attempting to vandalize places of worship or provoke unrest.” he stated.

In a significant revelation, Dr. Sarma stated, “A new beef mafia has emerged in Dhubri which procured thousands of animals just ahead of Eid. Investigation is underway, and the perpetrators will be put behind bars.”

To stabilize the situation, the Chief Minister announced the deployment of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and additional security personnel. He also declared strict action against any elements attempting to disturb public order.
