Assam CM Lays Foundation for ₹25.45 Cr Centralised Mid-Day Meal Kitchen in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, June 14, 2025: Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today laid the foundation stone for a Centralised Community Kitchen by the Akshaya Patra Foundation at Dihing Khamti, Dibrugarh, as part of efforts to strengthen the PM POSHAN mid-day meal scheme.

The ₹25.45 crore project aims to provide hygienic and nutritious meals to schoolchildren across the district. The G+1 facility will include a modern kitchen, training centre, administrative block, staff quarters, and a multipurpose hall.

Targeted for completion by September 2026, the initiative will not only improve children’s nutrition but also generate local employment, build community skills, and raise nutrition awareness.

“This kitchen will ensure Dibrugarh’s children receive warm, nutritious meals daily,” the CM said, highlighting similar projects recently launched in Nalbari, with Lakhimpur next in line.

The initiative reflects Assam's commitment to enhancing child welfare through quality mid-day meal infrastructure.
