Itanagar, June 12, 2025: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has announced a mass protest rally to be held on June 16 in Itanagar, intensifying its campaign against illegal immigration in the state.
In an official statement issued on Wednesday, AAPSU said the rally will be a powerful expression of public sentiment and a warning to the authorities, urging them to take “immediate and decisive” steps to protect the demographic structure and electoral integrity of Arunachal Pradesh.
The union emphasized that illegal immigration poses a serious threat to the state’s indigenous identity and cultural fabric. AAPSU stated that the protest is “not merely a demonstration, but a collective call to safeguard our land, people, and constitutional rights.”
As part of its campaign, the students’ body has submitted a three-point charter of demands to the state government. These include:
- Identification and deportation of all undocumented immigrants, including Chakma-Hajong, Nepali, Bhutanese, Tibetan, and Bangladeshi Muslim settlers;
- A crackdown on duplicate and dual voter enrolments, especially in Arunachal Pradesh;
- A cabinet-level directive for a thorough review and sanitization of the electoral rolls, with a three-tier verification mechanism to prevent illegal entries and ensure only genuine citizens are enrolled.
AAPSU has also appealed to civil society groups, community-based organizations, and the general public to participate in the rally and stand united in defense of the state’s identity and indigenous rights.
