Imphal, June 12, 2025: In a significant step to promote equitable access to higher education, the Government of Manipur is actively promoting the Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan (PM-USP) Yojana, a flagship initiative aimed at supporting meritorious students from economically weaker sections across the country.
The scheme provides financial assistance for undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional courses, ensuring that no student is deprived of higher education due to financial constraints. Scholarships are awarded annually, with ₹12,000 for UG students (1st-3rd year), and ₹20,000 for PG students (1st-2nd year) and for professional/technical students in the 4th-5th years.
To be eligible, students must:
• Score above the 80th percentile in Class XII board exams,
• Belong to families with an annual income of ₹4.5 lakh or below,
• Be enrolled in UGC/AICTE/AISHE-recognised regular UG/PG/professional courses,
• Maintain at least 75% attendance and 50% marks for renewal.
The initiative also ensures inclusivity through reservation as per central policy: SC (15%), ST (7.5%), OBC (27%), EWS, and 5% horizontal reservation for PwDs.
