Imphal, June 22, 2025: In a significant breakthrough, police have arrested the main accused in the murder of Md. Chesam Abdul Kadir of Paobitek Mayai Leikai. The accused, Longjam Khaba Singh alias Boi (35), a commander of the Arambai Tenggol outfit, was apprehended on Saturday from Mongsangei Makha Leikai Arubam Leikai, near the Puthiba Laibung Complex in Imphal West.
According to police sources, Longjam Khaba Singh had been evading arrest since his involvement in the murder. His capture marks a major development in the case that has drawn significant public attention.

Md. Chesam Abdul Kadir was reportedly killed in a targeted attack, and investigations revealed the involvement of members from the Arambai Tenggol group. So far, a total of 10 persons have been arrested in connection with the case, including seven members of Arambai Tenggol and three civilians.
Authorities continue to investigate the network behind the murder and have not ruled out further arrests. Security has been tightened in sensitive areas to prevent any backlash or unrest following the high-profile arrest.
