Lawngtlai, May 31, 2025, Virthli: Three individuals trapped under debris following a building collapse due to heavy rainfall were successfully rescued today in Lawngtlai. The incident occurred around 10:45 AM between Lawngtlai Bazar Veng and Chandmary Veng, affecting three separate buildings.
The rescue operation, launched under the supervision of the Lawngtlai Deputy Commissioner and CYLA, involved coordinated efforts by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), 3rd IR Battalion (Thingkah), Mizoram Police, Assam Rifles, Quick Response Team, and the District Disaster Management & Rehabilitation department.
Two victims were rescued earlier in the day in stable condition, and the third was pulled out safely around 7:50 PM. All three are currently receiving treatment at the District Hospital, Lawngtlai.

The collapsed buildings also disrupted NH-2 traffic, but clearance work is ongoing to restore the route.
