Aizawl, May 17, 2025, Virthli (ONP): A suspected cyberattack briefly disrupted the official website of the Mizoram Public Service Commission (MPSC) on the evening of May 15, 2025. The breach, which occurred around 10:00 PM, was quickly identified and resolved by the state’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department within an hour.
According to preliminary reports, the attack involved the defacement of the MPSC homepage. The attackers displayed imagery promoting Pakistan and mocking Indian national symbols, along with the tag of a group known as “Team Insane PK,” which is believed to be based in Pakistan. Despite the provocative visuals, officials have confirmed that no sensitive data was compromised during the incident.
The MPSC website plays a vital role in the state's recruitment process, providing a centralized platform for job notifications, online applications, examination schedules, and results. The temporary disruption raised concerns among candidates preparing for various civil service exams, but authorities assured that all services were promptly restored and remain secure.
Speaking at the 17th Digital Transformation Conclave in Aizawl the following day, Chief Minister Lalduhoma addressed the incident. He emphasized the growing need for robust cybersecurity measures across all government digital assets and urged public awareness and vigilance in the digital space.
In response to this and other recent cyber threats, the Mizoram government has initiated steps to strengthen its digital infrastructure. Plans include upgrading to more secure servers and enhancing cyber defense protocols to prevent future attacks.
