Pherzawl, May 21, 2021, Virthli(ONP): Under the ongoing pandemic and second wave of COVID-19 in the country, Churachandpur battalion Assam Rifles conducted a COVID-19 awareness drive in order to foster healthy lifestyle and well being among people residing in remote areas and villages under Parbung sub division on 21 May 2021. The drive was conducted from 7-8 AM by the Assam Rifles troops to educate people and kids about the Do's and Don'ts of maintaining hygiene and social distancing in today's times. COVID appropriate behaviour and precautions were observed by own troops to set an example for the villagers to follow.
Primary focus was to bring out the repercussions of not taking precautions into notice of people unaware about the devastating effects of ongoing pandemic in the country. The villagers were also emphasised upon the importance & benefits of early COVID vaccination by all eligible age groups. Latest ICMR guidelines on the COVID vaccination were also disseminated to the villagers residing in remote western fringe villages of Manipur state bordering Mizoram.
A brief was publicised during the event, emphasising importance of home quarantine, isolation, physical activities, good nourishment and proper hygiene for overall health and well being. Distribution of masks and sanitizers was organised for the villagers during the event.
The novel efforts of Assam Rifles were widely appreciated by the villagers. The event furthermore strengthens the faith of villagers in remote areas in our security forces. Assam Rifles's unique initiatives & relentless dedication in spreading awareness in remote areas yet again reinforces the belief that they are the true "Friends of North East People."
