The Joint Action Committee ( JAC ), in its emergency meeting held today at the JAC Information Center, KKL Complex adopted the following resolutions on the course of action to be taken in the days ahead:
1. Shops and Public transport will remain open from 5:00AM to 12:00NOON on Tuesday, September 8, 2015
2. All officers and establishments will remain close till further notice. However, the following departments will function normally: medical, water supply, telecom, electricity and media houses.
3. There will be a total bandh for 60hours starting from 12:00NOON on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 till September 10, 2015 in support of the 10-day ultimatum given earlier by the apex bodies ( KUKI Innpi, Hmar Inpui and Zomi Council ) to the Hills Areas Committee on September 1, 2015. If no desirable response is received from the Hills Area Committee by midnight of September 10, 2015 all the elected tribals MLAs must resign from thier respective posts or be ready to face public boycott.
4. The women groups are reguested to continue with peaceful sit in protest/ dharnas till further notice.
5. The JAC would like to appeal to the general public to maintain peace and calm during this time of crisis, and maintain mutual respect and understanding between all communities. The JAC would also like to make known to the general public that non of its activities are directed towards any party community, rather it is working for the good of all communities residing in the Distric and beyond.
