Aizwal, CCpur:  The Hmar Students Association Joint Headquarters, Churachandpur in a strong rebutal salmmed Home Minister R. Lalzirliana for the allegation leveled by him against the inspector tasked with investigating what the student body termed "fake encounter", killing Malsawmkim of HPC-D militant.

The student body in a statement said that it considered the false and baseless allegations as an attempt to tarnish the image of a sincere and faithful servant of the state and scuttle the investigation.

Earlier the Home Minister R. Lalzirliana in his letter to neighbouring Manipur's Dy Chief Minister Gaikhangam Gangmei has sought the latter's intervention to remove inspector Tlangthanzuol, OC of Parbung in Manipur tasked with investigating the encounter of May 8 at Tieulien village in which Sergeant HC Malsawmkima belonging to HPC-D was killed.  The Home Minister alleged the Police Inpsector to be 'hand in glove" with the group and even claimed that the Inspector transported several hundred rounds of ammunition for the militants when he conducted a spot visit on May 21.

The HSA termed the allegations leveled by the Home Minister against the inspector unfounded and uncalled for. "The inspector's only 'sin' is probably his being a Hmar, which, in the mind of the Mizoram Government possibly warrants such blatant accusations as the Mizoram Government has been looking at everything Hmar with paranoia. The Home Minister, in his attempt to cover up the atrocities of the MAP, has levelled these false allegations against a sincere, honest and faithful servant of the state.

The student body  asked the Home Minister to come up with a white paper on the fake encounter and corroborate with concrete evidence his allegations. It further urged the Home Minister to refrain from levelling false allegations with the intent of harming other's reputation and sabotaging a state Government instituted inquiry.
