Churachandpur to Observe Shutdown on November 6 in Mourning of UKNA Members

Churachandpur, Nov. 5, 2025: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) has announced a total shutdown of Lamka town on Thursday, November 6, 2025, following the alleged killing of four members of the United Kuki National Army (UKNA) by security forces in Khanpi, Henglep.

In an official statement, the ITLF expressed “deep sorrow and condolences” over what it termed a “tragic and inhumane” incident, calling for collective mourning and solidarity.

As part of the shutdown, all shops, offices, and educational institutions in Lamka town will remain closed from 12:00 PM on Thursday until the burial ceremony concludes at the KKL Cemetery. However, the ITLF clarified that vehicular movement will not be restricted during the period.

“This shutdown is observed as a mark of solidarity, remembrance, and deep respect for our brothers whose lives were unjustly taken,” the statement read. The forum urged the public, local organizations, and all concerned to cooperate and maintain peace and unity throughout the mourning period.

The notice was issued by the Secretary of Information and Publicity, ITLF.
