Darzakhum Songate Promoted as Chief Commissioner of Income Tax

New Delhi, Sept. 30, 2025: The Government of India has promoted Darzakhum Songate to the senior rank of Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT), according to an official order issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).

An officer of the 1992 batch of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Songate hails from Parbung village in Pherzawl district, Manipur and is the son of Upa Hrangthankhum Songate. He completed his Class X at Sielmat Christian Higher Secondary School, Churachandpur, Class XII at DM College of Science, Imphal, and later graduated from Scottish Church College, Kolkata.

Alongside Songate, six other senior IRS officers - T.H. Vijayalakshmi, Manjit Singh, Sunita Billa, Komal Jogpal, R.C. Meena, and Rajesh Damor - have also been promoted to the CCIT grade. As per the order, all promoted officers will continue to hold their present charges until formal posting instructions are issued.
