Union Home Minister Amit Shah Begins Two-Day Visit to Assam, Unveils Series of Key Projects

Guwahati, August 28, 2025: Union Home Minister Amit Shah was warmly received by Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at Guwahati Airport, marking the start of a significant two-day visit to the state. The visit, packed with key inaugurations and engagements, underlines the Centre’s continued focus on Assam’s development and governance.

During the visit on August 28 and 29, Amit Shah will inaugurate the new Raj Bhavan at Kharghuli, participate in Gau Puja and a plantation drive, and virtually inaugurate the State Forensic Laboratory at the Lachit Barphukan Police Academy. The Home Minister will also unveil commemorative plaques, attend Griha Pravesh ceremonies, inspect newly constructed buildings, and participate in the Panchayat Pratinidhi Sammelan at Khanapara.

A highlight of the itinerary is Amit Shah’s presence at the birth centenary celebrations of former Chief Minister Golap Borbora, further cementing the Centre’s recognition of Assam’s legacy leaders and cultural milestones.

Accompanied by top officials, the Home Minister’s visit is being held under a high-security blanket, reflecting both administrative and public importance. State officials have been directed to coordinate transportation and logistics, ensuring seamless movement throughout Shah’s packed schedule.

The Assam government considers this visit a testament to the state’s ongoing trajectory toward peace, infrastructural expansion, and efficient governance, with Amit Shah’s engagements seen as pivotal to Assam’s development journey.
