The duo, identified as Maibam Indira Devi (50) and her son Ronaldo Maibam (25), were taken into custody on August 28 following the disclosure of another arrested cadre, Mutum Leishemba Meitei (25) alias Pari, who was picked up earlier the same day from Minuthong, Imphal East.

From the residence of Indira Devi and her son, security forces recovered six mobile handsets and two Aadhaar cards believed to be linked to their activities.

Police sources revealed that the arrests highlight the deep-rooted involvement of families in underground networks, with women also playing active roles in assisting insurgent operations. The mother-son duo was reportedly engaged in activities supporting the banned outfit’s extortion and communication networks.

The arrests are part of a wider series of operations carried out across Imphal and Kakching districts on August 28, during which multiple active cadres from different KCP factions were apprehended. Police have reiterated their commitment to curbing extortion and intimidation activities by militant groups, stressing that family involvement will not deter law enforcement agencies from taking strict action.
