Imphal, July 17, 2025: In a significant move towards digital governance, the Hon’ble Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, today launched the Cashless Payment System for Transport Services along with the implementation of electronic Driving Licences (eDL) and electronic Registration Certificates (eRC) at a function held at Raj Bhavan, Imphal.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Transport Department, Government of Manipur, aims to improve transparency, efficiency, and convenience in the delivery of transport-related services to the public.
Starting 18th July 2025, citizens will be able to make transport-related payments via Point of Sale (POS) terminals, UPI, debit/credit cards, and other digital payment modes. Additionally, from 1st August 2025, all driving licences and registration certificates can be carried in digital format through DigiLocker and mParivahan mobile apps, eliminating the need for physical documents.

The move is being hailed as a progressive step towards smarter public service delivery and a more transparent and efficient transport system in the state.
