Governor Attends Church, Urges Church-Govt Effort to Tackle Youth Drug Abuse

Aizawl, July 6, 2025: Mizoram Governor General (Dr) V.K. Singh, PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd), has called for stronger collaboration between churches and the government to effectively address the growing menace of drug abuse among Mizo youth.

Speaking at a church service at the English Congregation Church in Mission Veng, Aizawl, today, the Governor emphasized the importance of guiding young people away from substance abuse and delinquency. He urged the youth to make wise choices and look ahead with a clear, disciplined vision for their future.

Highlighting the moral and spiritual influence of the Church, Governor Singh encouraged church leaders to play an active role in mentoring the younger generation. He also stressed the government’s commitment to continue its efforts in tackling drug-related issues and sought ongoing cooperation from faith-based organizations.

Church members warmly welcomed the Governor and invited him to participate in the service. He took time to interact with the congregation and discussed the challenges of drug abuse and the importance of community-driven solutions.
