Shillong, July 11, 2025: In a major boost to Meghalaya’s agri-export ambitions, Hon’ble Union Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman today flagged off a consignment of Meghalaya pineapples bound for the Lulu Hypermarket in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The initiative marks a significant step towards connecting Meghalaya's high-quality agricultural produce to global markets and promoting export-led growth for local farmers.

As part of her visit, the Finance Minister also interacted with Self Help Groups (SHGs), farmers, and entrepreneurs at an exhibition showcasing a variety of indigenous products. She encouraged local producers to continue exploring global opportunities and praised their efforts in driving rural economy and self-reliance.
The event reflects the Centre’s commitment to empowering grassroots producers, enhancing agri-export infrastructure, and integrating the Northeast into the global value chain.
