Imphal, July 16, 2025: In a continued effort to maintain peace and ensure security across Manipur's vulnerable fringe regions, security forces carried out a search and area domination operation between Leingangpokpi village in Jiribam district and Tatbung village in Tamenglong district.
During the operation, which took place on July 16, security personnel recovered a cache of arms and ammunition from an isolated stretch. The seized items include:
• One Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) with a magazine
• One .303 rifle with a magazine
• Five SBBL rifles
• 39 live rounds of .303 rifle ammunition
• 15 live SLR rounds
• 35 live .303 cartridges
• 57 SLR empty cases
• 76 rubber bullets
• One walkie-talkie
• Two bulletproof jackets
• One headgear
• One magazine pouch
The Manipur Police, in a statement on social media, confirmed the recovery and reaffirmed its commitment to intensified security measures in sensitive areas. These operations are part of an ongoing strategy to curb illegal arms proliferation and safeguard local communities amid ongoing ethnic tensions.
