Imphal, July 12, 2025: Security forces arrested 11 active militant cadres linked to various proscribed outfits - PREPAK, SOREPA, KCP, and others - in a series of operations conducted across Manipur on July 10 and 11. The crackdown led to significant seizures including mobile phones, identity documents, arms, and ammunition.
On July 11, two SOREPA cadres - Sharungbam Nanda @ Jetli (49) and Laishram Angouba Meitei @ Liklai (46) - were apprehended from Umathel area, Kakching district. Both are residents of Kakching Khunou Umathel Awang Leikai. Two mobile phones were seized.
In Sekmai, Imphal West, an active cadre of PREPAK (VC-Red Army), Chingakham Sanjoy Singh @ Eremba (42), was arrested. He had undergone 45 days of military training in Myanmar and was associated with the banned outfit. A wallet containing Aadhaar and PAN card was recovered.
Security forces also arrested:
• Khaidem Sanajaoba Meitei @ Ibobi (24), a KCP (Apunba) cadre, from Moirangpurel Khunou near Itham Bridge, Imphal East.
• Chandam Rabichandra @ Ibomcha Singh (28), of KCP (Taibangnganba), from Keibi Khullen, Imphal East - involved in extorting money from the public and professionals.
• Wangkhem Tomba Singh @ Wanglem (18), another KCP (Taibangnganba) cadre, from Phumlou Mamang Leikai, Imphal West.
• Leishanthem Athoiba @ Leishang (21), of PREPAK (PRO), from Wabagai, Kakching district. He had received training in Myanmar and was involved in fundraising/extortion activities.
On July 10, three active KCP (PWG) cadres involved in extortion and threats were arrested:
1. Thoudam Chaothoi Meitei @ Anthony (41) from Kameng Awang Leikai, Imphal West.
2. Laishram Beni Singh @ Khutheiba Khuman (43) from Yaiskul Police Lane, Imphal West.
3. Ningthoujam Yamba Singh @ Sanayamba (43) from Keirao Bitra, Imphal East.
Seized from them: 8 mobile phones, 3 Aadhaar cards, a wallet, and Rs. 220 in cash.
Also on July 10, Warepam Shanta Singh (42) was arrested from Kanglatombi Bazar, Imphal West, for illegal arms possession:
• 1 pistol (9mm) with magazine,
• 6 rounds of ammunition,
• A mobile phone with SIM card.

Security agencies stated that such operations will continue as part of intensified efforts to eliminate underground militant activities and extortion networks in the state.
