Agartala, June 24, 2025: Tripura has officially been declared a "Fully Literate State," marking a historic milestone in the state’s journey toward educational empowerment. The announcement was made during a formal ceremony at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala today.
With this achievement, Tripura becomes the third state in India - after Mizoram and Goa - to attain full literacy. The state's literacy rate has now reached an impressive 96.5%, a dramatic rise from just 20.24% recorded in the 1961 census.
Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha, who presided over the event, credited the success to the effective implementation of the New India Literacy Programme - ULLAS (Understanding Lifelong Learning for All in Society), an initiative aligned with the National Education Policy 2020.
