Aizawl, June 10, 2025: The much-anticipated Territorial Army (TA) 'Home & Hearts' Mizoram recruitment drive is set to begin from July 26, following formal approval from the Army Headquarters in Delhi. This new unit, envisioned to serve both in military and civil support roles, will be based in Mizoram and composed primarily of local youth.
At a press briefing held today at the Aizawl Press Club, Lt Col. Clement Lalhmingthanga, MLA and Chairman of the Coordination & Land Search Committee, shared key details of the recruitment and the purpose behind setting up the TA unit in the state.
Lt Col. Lalhmingthanga stated that the Chief Minister of Mizoram had formally proposed the formation of the unit to the Chief of Army Staff, seeking the establishment of a Mizo Scout Battalion under the Territorial Army. The proposal has now received approval, paving the way for the establishment of TA 'Home & Hearts' in Mizoram.
This unit will serve as a reserve force to assist both the Indian Army during emergencies and civil administration in times of natural disasters and public crises. It is also expected to contribute to intelligence operations, with members trained to respond swiftly in times of need.
The recruitment drive will begin in Aizawl and extend to other districts. Selected candidates will undergo training at the Assam Regimental Centre in Shillong. The selection process will include a written test, document verification, and medical examination, with the first batch expected to begin training by early November.
