Imphal, June 16, 2025: In a series of coordinated counter-insurgency operations, Manipur security forces arrested six active underground cadres associated with various banned outfits - KCP (MC Progressive), KCP (MFL), and KYKL - across Imphal East, Thoubal, and Kamjong districts on June 14 and 15, 2025.
On June 15, one active member of the KCP (MC Progressive), identified as Takhellambam Gandhi Singh @ Thouba (25) of Thoubal District, was arrested from the eastern side of Sawombung Bridge under Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East District. A mobile phone, SIM card, and Aadhaar card were recovered from his possession.
In another operation the same day, two active cadres of KCP (MFL) were arrested from Shikhong Shemai Bazar under Nongpok Sekmai Police Station, Thoubal District. The arrested individuals were Songam Hungyo (19) from Sada Lungthar, and Toijam Jamson Meitei @ Boro (25) of Kongpal Kongkham Leikai, Imphal East District. Two mobile phones were seized from them.
A day earlier, on June 14, security forces arrested three more cadres - two belonging to KYKL and one from KCP - from the general area of Taret River, under Kasom Khullen Police Station, Kamjong District. The arrested individuals were Bidyananda Shijagurumayam (25) from Khurai Thongam Leikai, Imphal East (KYKL), Tonsana Moirangthem (27) from Moirang Thamnapokpi, Bishnupur (KYKL), and Omikanta Nongmaithem (27) from Wangjing Lamding Bazaar, Thoubal (KCP).
Seized items from the trio included:
- One 7.65 mm pistol with two live rounds,
- One .22 pistol with three live rounds,
- 25 detonators,
- Two mobile phones,
- ₹1,840 in Indian currency, and
- MMK 20,000 (Myanmar currency).
The arrests and seizures mark a significant breakthrough in the ongoing efforts of the state’s security apparatus to curb insurgency and maintain peace in the region. Further investigation is underway.
