Imphal, June 14, 2025: In a significant breakthrough, joint security forces comprising the Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Army/Assam Rifles recovered a massive cache of arms and ammunition during a coordinated operation across five valley districts of Manipur.
The intelligence-driven operation was launched on the intervening night of June 13 and 14, 2025, following credible inputs about the presence of hidden arms in multiple locations. Teams conducted simultaneous search operations in the outskirts of these districts, resulting in the seizure of a substantial quantity of firearms, explosives, and warlike stores.
328 firearms, including:
- 151 SLR rifles
- 65 INSAS rifles
- 73 other rifles
- 12 LMG rifles
- 6 AK-series rifles
Other weapons such as carbines, pistols, MP5 guns, mortars, AR-15, Amogh rifles, and flare guns
- 591 assorted magazines
- Ammunition totaling over 8,600 rounds, including:
- 3,534 SLR rounds
- 2,186 INSAS rounds
- 2,252 .303 rounds
- 234 AK rounds
Others: Amogh, 9mm, and more
Explosives and accessories, including:
- 10 grenades
- 7 detonators
- 3 para devices
- 3 lathode shells
In a press release, the Manipur Police described the operation as a “major achievement” in ongoing efforts to restore normalcy, maintain law and order, and ensure public safety amid the state's ongoing security challenges.
