Aizawl, June 10, 2025: The final safety inspection of the railway line extending to Sairang, Mizoram was successfully completed today by Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Northeast Frontier (NF) Circle, Shri Sumeet Singhal and his team, under the initiative of the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).
The 33.864-kilometre railway stretch is part of a significant project aimed at enhancing rail connectivity in Mizoram. The inspection, which began on June 6, marks an important step towards the line's commissioning.
This railway project is a key component of the Government of India’s Act East Policy, designed to improve connectivity in the Northeast and foster regional development. It is expected to boost trade, infrastructure, and socio-economic growth in the state.
The route includes four planned stations - Hortoki, Kawnpui, Mualkhang, and Sairang-Sihhmui and involves major engineering feats such as 48 tunnels, 55 major bridges, and 87 minor bridges.
Earlier, on May 1, the General Manager (Construction) of NFR had reviewed the line's physical readiness. As of now, 94.25% of the total work has been completed.
