Imphal, June 27, 2025: Security forces in Manipur have intensified search and area domination operations in vulnerable and fringe areas across several districts. These ongoing efforts have led to the seizure of illegal arms, explosives, and liquor, and the arrest of multiple individuals, including active cadres of proscribed outfits involved in extortion and subversive activities.
Major Recoveries in Kakching District
On June 27, a major cache of arms and tactical gear was recovered from Wangoo Tarung Mamang Ching area under Wangoo-PS, Kakching District, including:
• 01 INSAS rifle (no magazine),
• 01 modified AK-56 rifle with magazine,
• 01 bolt-action single barrel,
• 01 single barrel gun,
• 01 .32 pistol with magazine,
• 01 LMG magazine (INSAS),
• 01 51mm mortar bomb with cover,
• 03 IEDs (approx. total weight: 1 kg),
• 01 .32 live round,
• 20 empty INSAS cartridges,
• 03 tear smoke shells,
• Communication and tactical items: 1 Baofeng handset, camouflage pants, raincoat, B.P. jacket (without plate), camouflage cap, and 3 pairs of tactical boots.
Weapons Seized in Bishnupur District
Also on June 27, security forces recovered:
• 01 SLR with magazine and 5 live rounds,
• 01 AK-modified rifle with an empty magazine,
• 03 single-barrel guns
from Torbung Sabal Mamang Leikai under Phougakchao Ikhai-PS, Bishnupur District.
Grenades and Foreign-Made Pistols Recovered in Imphal West
On June 26, operations in Kameng Sabal area (IVR Road) under Lamsang-PS, Imphal West, led to the recovery of:
• 03 pistols marked “Made in Burma” with magazines
• 03 live 36 HE hand grenades
Multiple KCP (PWG) Cadres Arrested for Extortion
Several active members of the banned KCP (PWG) were apprehended:
1. On June 26: Nongmeikapam Jilish Meitei (29) from Chingarel Tejpur, Imphal East, for extortion from private firms and the public.
2. Same day in Porompat-PS area: Laishram Suraj Singh (33) and Kshetrimayum Ashangbi Devi (34) were caught with 1 scooter, ₹10,000 in extortion cash, Aadhaar card, and 2 mobile phones.
3. On June 27 in Thangmeiband Thingel Leikai, Imphal West: Johnson Singh (27), Scolia Devi (25), and Binita Devi (22) were arrested. Seized from them were 3 mobile phones and a wallet.

Liquor Seizure in Jiribam
Also on June 27, two individuals were caught smuggling large quantities of liquor from FCP Gate, Jiribam:
• Chamsinlu Rongmei (40) and Gaichendinliu Rongmei (37)
• Seized items included:
• 196 bottles of McDowell’s No. 1,
• 144 Iconic White,
• 216 Kingfisher beer cans,
• 12 Stok, 12 God Father, 56 Tuborg, 24 Old Monk cans,
• 12 KD whisky, and
• 10 DIC liquor bottles.
The duo and the liquor were handed over to the Excise Department after formalities.
