Mizoram’s Lalhumhimi Wins Gold at World Police Championship 2025 in USA

Aizawl, June 30, 2025: Lalhumhimi, a promising athlete from Zemabawk North, Mizoram, has brought immense pride to the state and the country by clinching the Gold Medal in the 52 kg Judo category at the World Police Championship 2025, held in Birmingham, Alabama, USA.

Representing the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) under the Indian Police, Lalhumhimi emerged as the best among global competitors in her weight category, showcasing outstanding skill and determination.

Her path to this international championship was paved by her exceptional performance at the All India Police Judo Cluster Championship held in Guwahati earlier this year, where she was adjudged the best in her category, securing her spot for the global stage.

Lalhumhimi is no stranger to victory. She previously won gold medals at the National Games 2022 and the North East Games 2016, consistently proving her mettle and raising Mizoram’s profile in the Indian sporting community.

Following her latest triumph, Mizoram Home Minister K. Sapdanga and Sports & Youth Services Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar took to social media to celebrate her achievement. Minister Sapdanga praised her discipline and physical strength as exemplary of what police personnel can achieve, while also highlighting her role in elevating the Indian Police’s image on a global platform.
