Shillong, June 2, 2025, Virthli: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Sunday attended the send-off ceremony for the Meghalaya U-20 Boys’ State Football Team, who are set to travel to France for an elite training programme at the renowned Olympique Lyonnais Training Academy in Lyon.
Terming the opportunity a “doorway to a world of learning, discipline, and excellence,” Sangma encouraged the young athletes to carry with them the spirit and pride of Meghalaya. “This is not just a training camp - it’s a platform for growth, exposure, and becoming ambassadors of the state and the country,” he said.
The initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to nurturing sports talent and promoting international exposure for Meghalaya’s youth.
Earlier, the Chief Minister also inspected the SSA Ground and 2nd Ground at Polo in Shillong, reviewing the progress of infrastructure development in preparation for the National Games 2027. Sangma reaffirmed the state’s dedication to ensuring that all sports facilities are completed on schedule to host the prestigious event.
The dual focus on international training for young athletes and readiness for a national sporting event highlights Meghalaya’s broader sports development strategy.
