Imphal, June 3, 2025, Virthli: The Manipur Police has significantly stepped up its intelligence-based combing and cordon and search operations across the state, specifically targeting individuals involved in extortion activities. These intensified efforts have led to several crucial arrests and the recovery of dangerous explosives.
On June 2, 2025, police operations resulted in the apprehension of three active cadres from different proscribed organizations:
Sapam Boboy Singh @ Aboy @ Kuki (36) of Chingtham Mayai Leikai, Thoubal District, an active cadre of the KYKL, was arrested from the Chingtham Pukhri Achouba area under Khongjom Police Station, Thoubal District. Singh was allegedly involved in extortion activities and the recruitment of new cadres within Thoubal District. Two mobile phones and one SIM card were seized from his possession.
Mayanglambam Lorens Singh (31) of Kakching Phousupat Leikai, Kakching District, an active cadre of PREPAK (Pro), was apprehended from the Kakching Phousupat Leikai area under Kakching Police Station, Kakching District. Singh is accused of directly collecting extortion money via G-Pay. A mobile handset was seized from him.
Shagolshem Thoiba Singh @ Chingshanglakpa (23) of Wangjing S K Leikai, Thoubal District, a cadre of KYKL (SOREPA), was arrested by security forces from Wangjing S K Leikai under Thoubal Police Station, Thoubal District. He was reportedly involved in extortion activities, including serving monetary demands and threats. One mobile phone and one SIM card were seized from his possession.
In addition to the arrests, security forces have made significant recoveries of explosive devices. Between May 23, 2025, and June 2, 2025, a total of three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and four Crude Grenades were recovered. These dangerous items were found along the track from Yangoubung to Lalim Lok River, falling under the jurisdiction of Moreh Police Station, Tengnoupal District.

The Manipur Police stated that these operations are part of an ongoing effort to maintain peace and order, and to dismantle networks involved in illegal extortion and other disruptive activities across the state. Further investigations are underway in all cases
